What we do

We have a variety of activities in our weekly meetings‚ which include open discussions about how fibromyalgia affects us‚ guest speakers‚ craft sessions‚ etc…

We have a library for members to browse through which has an array of books‚ benefits advice‚ information for carers‚ etc…

We pride ourselves on being able to provide an information booklet for every member which provides an array of information about fibromyalgia and M.E. as well as signposts to a variety of services you may need and find helpful locally. This has been appraised by the rheumatology department at Weston Hospital‚ we work closely with Weston Hospitals rheumatology department to offer support for people newly diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and M.E.

We have regular social outings outside of group‚ which include coffee mornings‚ lunches out‚ day trips‚ etc…

We are a self funded/non profit support group and we hold various fundraisers throughout the year to raise the vital funds needed to keep the group running. With this funding raising we aim to raise awareness of Fibromyalgia/ME and let people know we are here to offer support‚ advice and education on Fibromyalgia/ME.

With the fundraising efforts and a generous grant provided by Somerset district council we are able to offer a weekly session to all of our members in a warm private hired pool. Research has found that being able to be in a warm pool‚ such as hydrotherapy‚ can help people with fibromyalgia. When we are diagnosed with fibromyalgia hydrotherapy is often a treatment option available but unfortunately it is for a limited time period.

As a group we researched and looked into local pools that hire privately with warm water and we have been able to secure a weekly session in a private hire pool for our members thanks to the grant and continued fundraising efforts…

We work together with FMA UK which is a national fibromyalgia charity which is fighting for freedom from Fibromyalgia.

We are a registered support group with FMA UK and our helpline number is provided by FMA UK which is manned by the chair person of group. We have valued support from FMA UK and we also sell their merchandise to raise awareness of fibromyalgia which is available at group. Recently Fibromyalgia Association UK joined together with Fibro Action and is now known as Fibromyalgia Action UK.
